Description

This Carriage was built in England for the British Foreign Service. It was shipped to Siam, which is now Thailand and was delivered to the British Embassy in Bangkok. When the Japanese invaded Siam and Burma at the start of World War II, the Carriage was used for transportation by Japanese Army Officials. In 1947 or 1948, the Carriage was returned to the British Embassy and remained in their possession until 1951 when it was declared surplus. At that time, the Carriage went into service as public transportation, mainly in the area of Bangkok and its small outlying towns. In the mid 1950's, the Carriage was taken to the City of Chaing Mai. The Carriage was used as a taxi in the early 1980's and then as a bus in the nearby farming areas. In 1989, the Carriage was purchased by an engineer and transported to St. Petersburg, Florida, where it now sits in a law office.
