Description

This buggy is called a Spindle Seat Matinee Runabout, all hand made between 1880-1890 for the Edmunds Family of Wheelock, Vermont. The son, Alvah Edmunds used this buggy to court Avis Phillips of Sheffield, Vermont. Avis Phillips is Norm's Dad's older sister. Alva and Avis married in the 1920's. After marriage, Alvah and Avis moved to Lyndon, Vermont to farm, and took the buggy with them. Although they had an automobile, they used this buggy for weekend drives. When their children grew up and left home the buggy was put away in a hay barn where it stayed. View photos and more history at http://www.wildwestauctionswyo.com/product/1890-spindle-seat-buggy/
